The Schurr High School Legion going to London England!!!

This past October 21st our Schurr High School Marching Band received a special visit and a personal invitation to perform in the 2013 London New Year's Day Parade and Festival from former Lord Mayor of Westminster, Catherine Longworth, and her consort, John Longworth. They were accompanied by festival founders and directors Robert and Geraldine Bone and Johnathan Whaley, director of international participants.

After playing this years Marching Music, the "Pride of the Wolverines,” our visitors stated:

"Your music is sensationally good."

The Lord Major Catherine Longworth presented to our Director, Mr. Tony Castro and the Legion the Westminster's coat of arms, and called the invitation an unparalleled recognition and specifically stated that:

"Your talent is great, and the invitation is in recognition of your great standard of quality."

Our band received a standing ovation from our visitors after playing our third and final number and we had Lord Longworth yell out:

"Now that’s what I call a marching band!"

In order for our kids to perform in London, each student would need to raise $2,925 for the trip. The Boosters will be aiding in raising as much money as possible for this trip. We are also hoping to get contribution from our community, family and friends.

All of us are very excited and very proud of Mr. Castro and our kids and we all hope to be celebrating new years in 2013 in London England.
